This was probably as close as you can get to a snow day in Southern California. We were newly engaged, and had gone to LA to get my ring resized. While waiting, we saw the ice skating rink in Pershing Square and spontaneously decided to spend the rest of the afternoon there. Little did Dennis know that he was about to regret that idea! We bought our tickets and laced on our ice skates. Since I had skated before, I led Dennis onto the ice, who was holding on for dear life! He would not let go of the railing, no matter how much coaxing I did. After two rounds, he got off the ice and let me skate on my won. He snapped away on the disposable camera we bought, happy to be steady on his feet again. I had fun skating, but I had much more fun when Dennis was skating with me!

One of the new roles I'm getting used to is being your wife. I knew that's what I signed up for when we said our vows, but sometimes "wife" seems like such a foreign word. After our first six months together, what does it mean, exactly? That I do your laundry for you? That I clean our house and make our bed? To me it means so much more. It means that I am there for you, to listen and support you in your decisions. It means that we are partners together, navigating the challenges in life that come our way. It means that I am slowly learning to be more giving, more patient, and more understanding, to be a good wife to you. I am lucky because you do the same for me. You are patient with me throughout my moods and drama. You cook for me, and do thoughtful little things to show me how much you love me. I only hope to be as good a wife to you as you are a great husband to me. I'm new at this, and I'm still learning, but eventually I'll get there. We've only just begun our lifelong journey together as husband and wife.

You and me. Me and you. Us. Together. My favorite thing in the world is to spend time with you, just relaxing and having fun. That’s what we did when you planned this outing to the pier of Marina del Rey. We did it so we could hang out with our family and friends, but to me it was still all about quality time with you.

Love is everything it's cracked up to be. That's why people are so cynical about it.... It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is, if you don't risk anything, you risk even more.
- Erica Jong

This photo always makes me smile. It just reminds me how open and loving you are. You are totally worth the risk, Babe. I'm so glad I fell in love with you.

Instead of the usual dinner-and-a-movie type date, we decided to go to Huntington Gardens today. I took my camera along, and had fun taking lots of photos of the interesting plants and flowers. You were a wee bit jealous of my camera that day -- you were used to all my attention being on you!
We took turns taking photos of each other. It was hard for us to get our photo taken together, we had to rely on the kindness of random strangers!
This was the first of our outings together. Many more fun times are sure to follow!

Diary entry: 10.07.06
Two weeks. Time just seems to flow so differently these past two weeks. My life has changed so radically, I feel like I’'m in freefall. On the other hand, it feels like it’'s exactly where it’'s supposed to be. Who’'d have thought that after 3 years we'’d end up together? Everything just seemed to fall into place, like the pieces of a puzzle just clicking together. It feels like we’'ve been together for a lot longer than 2 weeks, like we'’ve known each other forever. On the other hand, things just feel so new & fresh & exciting. It’'s the best of both worlds, and our adventure together is just getting started.

Babe, I love how hard-working and persevering you are. Even in something as seemingly trivial as our Save The Dates. When we decided to do these Martha Stewart ribbon ones, you were determined to have them, even if we had to cut out every individual number ourselves. After exploring our die-cutting options, we realized that was exactly what we had to do! You never wavered, and tirelessly cut out those numbers while I punched and printed. And then came time for the ribbons! Not an easy task. Our "Save the Date factory" was a huge success though, we got SOOO many compliments on them!
