Once upon a time, you were just a dream inside of me, kicking and growing. Now here you are, and I am holding you. You are the most precious thing I have ever seen. I remember waking up in the hospital on the second night after your birth with you next to me, swaddled tightly and peacefully sleeping. I panicked at first, since I hadnt planned on falling asleep for the night. But you were safe next to me, and had slept well, unlike the previous night when you had woken up numerous times sleeping in your bassinette. I gazed at you in wonder, my little Dylan. I saw bits and pieces of myself in you, and in that moment, I felt like a mother for the first time.

Your dad, your grandma and I went to my ultrasound appointment with great anticipation. We hoped to see that you were safe and healthy, but we also wanted to know if you were a boy or a girl! In fact, the minute the technician started on the ultrasound, your dad asked her right away what you were! She said she would check after she had done the measurements and finished all the required shots. So we waited eagerly as she tried to measure your femur length, although you didnt make it easy with your kicking! She took shots of your heart, brain, and spinal cord and even took a shot of your beautiful face. Then the radiologist came in, and he said it was time for the fun part. He checked to see what you were, and immediately pronounced that you were a boy! He pointed it out to us on the ultrasound, and even labeled you BOY, saying just so nobody could misinterpret the photo. We were so happy and excited, and when it was done, I hugged your dad and teared up with joy. It was a wonder to see you kicking and moving, and we cant wait till we get another chance to see you again!

Ultrasound photos are a miracle of modern science. I can see you grow inside me from a peanut with a heartbeat to a kicking baby boy! It has been a wondrous experience each time I see you , and I cant wait till I hold you in my arms!
