Gem: ~pause~ Are you pregnant? Ina: Yes, I am. Gem: Oh wow, really? Congrats! ~another pause~ So is it a boy or a girl? Ina: I just found out today. It’s way too early to tell! Gem: ~rummages through her shopping bags~ Here, you can have this one. At least it works for either a boy or a girl! There’s a little bit of a backstory to the conversation on the right. Gem had recently bought Karla some adorable baby girl outfits, since she was expecting one. Then an ultrasound indicated it was going to be a boy!That’s why Gem asked me that question right away -- maybe she wouldn’t have to return the adorable girly clothes she’d already bought! And that’s the story of how you got your very first gift the same day we found out you were going to be born.
